MA Pro-Lifers prefer Brownback over Romney

This is from a Brownback press release.

Is it me or are Massachusetts Republicans and conservatives not so fond of their governor? First, Mass Resistance hates him. Then, he loses his own College Republicans to McCain. Then he loses his own Senate Minority Leader. Now he loses his social conservatives:

In order to preserve traditional values and actually win back ground in the ongoing fight for our culture, we need a leader who can articulate and fight for our values with compassion, optimism, and consistency. We know consistent leadership when we see it. For this Leading Massachusetts Social Conservatives Endorse Brownback.

A friend of mine from Massachusetts told me recently that the way to go up in the party now is to attack Romney.

Even K-Lo, the Great Disciple, is becoming convinced that her man is a flip-flopper.

The release is after the jump.

The Fight for the Right

I woke up and saw this article at the Christian Broadcasting Network (recall, Pat Robertson’s operation). They report that Jerry Zandstra, President of the Michigan Pro-life League and a member of Sam Brownback’s Exploratory Committee, attacked Romney for flip-flopping on taxes: If this were the only flip in Gov. Romney’s Read more…

EFM tries to cover up another Romney flip-flop-flip-flop

Evangelical for Mitt’s David French (whose wife and co-blogger lied to the press about funding people for the Southern Republican Leadership Conference) has written another apologetic on Mitt Romney’s record. In this case, a concerned Evangelical writes in and says that he read Mass Resistance’s "Romney Deception" piece and cannot Read more…

Brownback hires IA pro-life activist

Update: TPM’s Election Central notes that Lehman’s statement included an attack against the other candidates and speculates that that means Mitt Romney more than anyone else. Sam Brownback announced an important hire: Republican presidential prospect Sen. Sam Brownback said today he has received the support of Kim Lehman, executive director Read more…

Romney announces: new site and new message

Mitt Romney filed, hired a great lawyer, put up a new website, and set out his new message. I see several themes: Romney is shining up his conservative credentials. Top and center is "America cannot continue to lead the family of nations around the world if we suffer the collapse Read more…

Linker missing point on Romney and Mormonism

Damon Linker wrote an article in TNR about Mitt Romney and Mormonism. He seems to be advocating for playing a redux of JFK’s Catholic/Houston moment in which JFK said that he wouldn’t take direction from the pope. The blog community is getting in a tizzy over this. Some people think Read more…

More buzz on Huckabee

There has been a lot of attention recently placed on Mike Huckabee:

In other words, Huckabee has been attracting a lot of significant attention.  There still is no credible candidate of the religious right. Sam Brownback is not setting anyone afire. Frankly, he’s a boring speaker, but he does quite well in small groups. In the context of the Iowa caucus, there’s always room for a breakout candidate who fires up the religious voters. Mike Huckabee could be that guy. Read on.

Romney losing support in Michigan

Mitt Romney is getting beaten up again in the Evangelical media. Again, it is Pat Robertson’s CBN: There are at least four Republican Representatives from the Michigan State House that are seriously rethinking their support of Romney for President. These are members of Romney’s steering committee in Michigan who are Read more…

Weyrich still thinks Romney’s a phony

Paul Weyrich gave an overview of the field of GOP Presidential candidates. On Mitt Romney he said: "Governor Romney is going to make an attempt to sound like us," say Weyrich. "[But] I don’t think he is; I don’t think he’s the genuine article. And I think he really ought Read more…
