BRandon,

You are a real piece of work.

Your actually arguing someone who was once pro-choice that is now pro-life can't be trusted? Wow, talk about fighting a cause for no reason.

Actually equal rights for gays in 94 did not mean gay marriage. Romney said in 94 he was against gay marriage and civil unions. Equal rights then meant no discrimination on the work place and things of that nature. Sorry, you don't understand what context is.

Either that or you purposely manipulate the facts.

Have fun with your boy Kamikaze Johnny, he needs people like you.

romney on gay rights? here you go - it's a flyer distributed during gay pride [probably boston] a few years back:

the flyer: http://massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/RomneyPrideFlier.jpg

and its context, and some other juicy tidbits [mind you, this is a *ahem* "pro-family" site]:
http://massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/

"all citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of sexual preference"

what exactly do "equal rights" for gays mean if not those afforded to married couples? what other rights are gays denied? i can't think of any, can you? remember, this is massachusetts we're talking about (btw - 45 to 151. pop the cork, mary!). again, even if he's against gay marriage, isn't distributing a flyer like this a tad, what's the word... DISHONEST?

if i may be so bold as to unpack your argument, you defend romney for abandoning one of the very principles he was elected upon [namely being pro-choice] once in office. but that's totally cool with you since in doing so he switched over to your side [he was before it before he was against it. or is it the other way around? so hard to keep track]. now i ask you, how the hell can you trust someone like that? or better yet, WHY would you?

i guess we should have just left it at your post #6 above - you're right, i don't get it.

Brandon,

Where did he change his position on gay rights? It's always the same. He's been against gay marriage and civil unions since 94 and has been against discrimination since 94.

The only way your point is correct would be if you equated anti-gay marriage as discrimination. Do you?

right, i forgot - he suddenly had a change of heart regarding the 2 issues that [sadly] define one's politics in america today [abortion and gay rights], and that just happened to coincide with his candidacy for the republican nomination, after serving as governor to one of the country's most liberal states. that doesn't smell funny to you? because i think it stinks. he's the john kerry of this election cylce.

if you want to support a candidate who will literally say a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g to get elected, hey - go for it. but the american people just won't buy it. they already associate the republican party with corruption and lies. he's a snake oil peddler, but hey, he's got great hair. best of luck in '08!

Brandon Please,

You make it sound like Romney never has acknowedged his past position on abortion.

No one is denying what he said in the videos, they are saying as governor Romney fought for life...which he did.

Sorry you don't get it.

no one lied here?

if what you're saying is correct, jbonham, gubernatorial candidate romney said one thing, but then governor romney said something completely different - specifically, romney the candidate was pro-abortion, then governor romney wasn't [is this even true?]. but let's not forget, gubernatorial candidate romney and governor romney are the same person, just at different points in time.

so if his spokesman isn't lying, then romney is the liar. sure, you can split hairs about terms like "governor" romney vs. "not-yet-govnernor romney", but this is just plain shady any way you slice it.

abortion is not a big issue to me, so i really don't care what the candidates think about the issue, but i do care about honesty and integrity. romney possesses neither of those traits.

Soren,

With all do respect to what is an otherwise good site, both your videos were statements prior to being governor. Madden says "Governor Romney."

What you have said is like saying "Chevy lies when they say they had a great engine in there 99 suburban, because hey, look at the 98- it sucks."

No one lied here, except McCain's team which deliberately cut out the part of the video that contradicts their spin.
