I met Senator Brownback at the Bloggers for Life Conference at the Family Research Council Monday, before the March for Life. I told him he was my favorite candidate because of his proven track record of being 100% prolife and his support of Down Syndrome babies' right to life (he mentioned my daughter Christina who has Downs in his speech there). I also told him that the press considered him a longshot, viable only if 'the top three burn out'.
However, Senator Brownback later convinced me that he knew how to connect with voters, had gained 40 points to win his Senate seat against an incumbent, and could surge ahead after Iowa, where only the dedicated, largely pro-life base braves the cold to caucus.
I saw the excitement for his campaign amoung the 100,000 gathered at the March for Life, and these are the activists who will take the enthusiasm home with them.He must be taken seriously, keep a close eye on this campaign!
