[...] Well. There’s urgency now. Romney is now clearly in 2nd in Iowa. There is now clear evidence that Romney’s religion is hurting him in Iowa, something that we predicted early on based on the strange makeup of the caucus electorate. [...]

[...] Meanwhile, Romney supporters who say the “Mormon issue” won’t hurt that much should keep looking. A new Hotline/Diageo poll say that only 28% of GOP voters have a favorable view of Mormonism. EyeOn08.com has more discussion. [...]

[...] Update: Meanwhile, Soren Dayton over at Eye on ‘08 has analyzed the Hotline/Diaego Poll from last week and concluded that the group most likely to have a problem with Mormonism are Republicans: 48% of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Mormonism. (Evangelical Christians??) Only 38% of Dems and 26% of Independents have an unfavorable view. Also, more Republicans have opinions (I won’t say “informed”) on this (only 1/4 do not, versus 1/3 for Dems and almost 1/2 for Independents) Republicans have more negative and more defined views of Mormonism than anyone else. In other words, Romney’s problem is with his own party’s base in the primary. Independents just won’t care so much. by Kavon W. Nikrad @ 2:56 pm.
Another day, another anti-Romney screed from Soren. Yawn.

I guess it's lucky for Mitt that we're voting for President in 2008, and not having a referendum on establishing a national religion.
